The mobile browser wars are set to heat up in 2008 so it’s a good time for a themed event digging into issues such as user interface and open standards. Michael Smith — Agent Provocateur — W3C .PDF
Michael(tm) Smith has been involved in design, development, testing, and deployment of networked information-delivery technologies for more than 10 years from carrier-grade e-mail delivery systems and content-transformation technologies to Web browsers and Ajax-driven Web-based applications. For most of the last seven years, he worked on systems for mobile operators in Japan at Openwave Systems and at Opera Software. He’s now with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), where, after starting as the Asia lead for the W3C Mobile Web Initiative, he currently focuses on technical work related to core browser technologies; in particular, working with Microsoft, Apple, Opera, Google, Nokia, Access, Mozilla, dotMobi and others on HTML5, the next version the HTML language.
Christian Sejersen & Jay Sullivan — Mozilla Mobile .PDF
Christian Sejersen and Jay Sullivan will speak about Mozilla’s mobile Firefox browser, Mozilla’s strategy around mobile, and how you can contribute to a better mobile browser. Christian Sejersen joined Mozilla in 2007 as Director of Mobile Engineering focused on developing Mobile Firefox. Previous to that he was Director of Engineering at Openwave, responsible for development of next-generation embedded products with prior work including the EZ-web browser for KDDI and the J-Phone (now Softbank Mobile) browser. Earlier, Christian Sejersen was working for CSC and KMD (large Danish ISV). Prior to that, he co-founded a software security company. A native of Denmark, Christian Sejersen holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Copenhagen. Jay Sullivan is Senior Director of Mozilla Labs, working on mobile, online services and other new initiatives. Jay has worked in a variety of engineering, product management and executive roles at Oracle, Firefly Network and PocketThis, where he was a co-founder. Jay has been granted three U.S. patents for his work on mobile applications and collaborative filtering.
